Course Cost: £320 – we are currently looking into the possibility of £100 bursary for young learners. TBC
IF we can offer a bursary, the full amount will need to be paid upfront and the bursary will be reimbursed back to the payment card within 10 working days.
Who for: Young Volunteers in the club who have ideally attended the CAYV – desirable not essential. If they haven’t done CAYV we would be looking for evidence of their experience in volunteering within the club (this is to make sure that they enjoy the course as much as anything else).
Age: 14-18 years
First Aid: Level 1’s will be fine if coaching with a first aid qualified level l/2 coach in the same session/environment. It is requirement when they turn 18 to gain the 6 hour first aid qualification.
DBS: The minimum age at which someone can be asked to apply for a DBS check is 18 years old. U18 year olds should always be supervised by a qualified coach who is at least 18 years old, and who is expected to have a valid DBS check through British Cycling.
As soon as you turn 18 you may be required to have a DBS, this can be done free of charge through British Cycling, and the initial questionnaire can be requested from British Cycling or accessed via the British Cycling website www.britishcycling.org.uk/safeguarding.
